so it's time for a moratorium

A moratorium on me being so down on myself.

Thank you Emma. I do look rather glam?!

I may not be the prettiest girl but my goodness I was pretty on my wedding day.

Shove it "my conventional thoughts on beauty."  I need to practice what I preach.

No I will never grace the cover of Vogue but damn it girl you must realise that on that day you were pretty.  Bean thought you were pretty and that is good. Maybe that it is all that matters?

I got married, the ceremony was really beautiful. It made me happy.

I hope to hear a collective, "well dur!" about loving my wedding.

Yes weddings are joyous occasions. My wedding was a joyous occasion. The highs do most definitely outweigh the lows.

So here's to me being positive about the wedding. (I will still mention the times which were not unicorns and rainbows.)

Thank you one and all for reminding what was important. (Thank you, a different Emma in particular)

  1. Conventional beauty is for the birds. People who are unconventional are inherently more interesting, and in that I believe there's real beauty.

I'm glad you're beginning to see yourself as pretty on your wedding day, because it's true. Now we just need to work on having you see yourself as pretty all the other days of the week, too, because that's equally as true.

  6. Hoorah for the moratorium! This photo is IMMENSE! You look very regal and entirely awesome - pretty much how I *hope* to look in October at my own wedding!

I'm new to your blog - only discovered via the lovely LoveMyDress but I am really enjoying looking though the archives for inspiration and I just wanted to say thanks for sharing...My sister even sent me a "I'd like to wear this bridesmaid's dress" link last week and it was from your day!

  9. That picture is GREAT! Something about it rather reminds me of a young Joan Crawford in Letty Lynton - vintage, fierce, stylish - WOW.

I've been feeling funny about my wedding pictures too - (I look like such a mess!) - maybe it's something quite a few brides go through especially if we're guilty of following lots of pretty wedding blogs. I keep reminding myself to think about how I FELT on the day rather than getting hung up on how I looked.
I think you look more than pretty - you look beautiful in your wedding pics and you are an inspiration.

  10. Some of my friends on facebook saw your wedding photos through my 'like' on Emma's page and they all thought I knew you - they too loved your wedding! It made me a little sad to admit - in the way embarrassed bloggers do - I don't in fact know you and so no, I wasn't there to share in the shindig :( But no matter. With my whole heart I can tell you your wedding looked (and I'm sure was) fabulous and you and Bean were (and are) beautiful x

  19. Well whoop de do! Finally you are seeing just a snippet into how fabulous we think you all are for yourself. I think being at your prettiest for the wedding day is surely the point? Otherwise a) it wouldn't be special b) the photos wouldn't evoke such wonderful memories c) we'd all be walking around in white dresses, stilettos and false eyelashes and that wouldn't be unique at all now would it?

Oh and though I like rainbows, unicorns kind of scare me so I'm glad there weren't many at your wedding ;)

Oh and whatever Emma said...girl done good. And that photo above, epic. Just epic. Vogue doesn't know what it's missing. xxx

  24. I have just stumbled across your blog and I'm afraid Im more of a nosey flicker than a comment kind of a person but on reading this post I had to place my first comment ever on a blog! (I know I'm stuck in the dark ages!)

My dear, you are a beauty! x

  25. Anna I found your blog through another blog that i follow - you are absolutely gorgeous, never think otherwise. I will not be a conventional bride either for so many reasons and I have found so much hope through your honesty. So much beauty comes from your words and can I also say that your photos kick ass compared to the stylised soul-less vanity that has come to mean a wedding. So i want to say a huge THANKYOU. You are BEAUTIFUL. An anonymous friend from Australia.
